September 2026 — QuadriE has signed a facility sharing agreement with HAN BioCentre, part of the Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen (HAN University of Applied Sciences), securing dedicated lab and office space in the Connectr building at Cleantech Park Arnhem.
A physical home for the bench scale system
The agreement runs from October 2026 through July 2027, with an option to extend. It gives QuadriE the use of a laboratory bench together with a dedicated floor area sized for its tubular reactor unit, plus lab and office access. The space is specifically suited to house QuadriE’s bench scale aqueous organic redox flow battery (AORFB) system, providing a stable base for sample preparation, electrochemical testing, and longer-duration cycling experiments as the system moves from construction into operation.
Room to grow beyond the flow battery
Beyond housing the RFB unit, the new lab capacity also gives QuadriE room to start exploring adjacent R&D directions. One of these is a new concept for the electrochemical recovery of iron from residual and waste streams, aimed at producing a coagulant that wastewater treatment plants use to control phosphate levels — reducing dependency on externally sourced chemicals in the process. This iron platform is still in an early stage of development, but the HAN BioCentre facility provides the lab space needed to start testing it alongside the ongoing flow battery work.
“Having our own lab bench inside the Connectr building means QuadriE is no longer dependent on borrowed space or one-off arrangements,” said Lex van Dijk, founder of QuadriE. “It gives us room to keep developing the flow battery toward bench scale operation, and to start exploring where else our electrochemistry platform can add value.”
